| Bio: | Where to start? Born in Manchester, England to Anglo-Irish parents & packed off to boarding school at an early age; Think Hogwarts, with houses & all - but (sadly) no Quiddich. You've got a pretty good image. By inclination I'm a diplomat, but by training I'm both a Chemist (Masters Degree: into how to turn orange peel into synthetic oil. Seriously!) & Accountant (God only knows why I made *that* choice in my life!). Accounting is, by far & away the best & worst decision I've ever made. Yes, its well paid & internationally recognised – but its B.O.R.I.N.G. Still, its taken me to many interesting places; firstly (back) to Leeds where I met my wife, (C - a woman I am privileged just to be with her, cos shes so... full of life, I guess), then around the world, (where I visited many wonderful places like the US, Canada, New Zealand, Australia & South Africa). Tragically, this stage of my life was too brief – I'm now employed in Amsterdam & long for the next long holiday. I read philosophy & have taken in a range of other so-called classisc, including War & Peace which, (to be honest) I conclude is a Russian Napoleponic-era soap-opera & not really very good, but it gets points as being the first example of napoleonic-era soap operas... I'm a fan of reading history as it shows where we've come from & I'm a fan of science fiction, because it shows where we might go to (but probably not). Unless all the aliens DO speak American accented english - which would be the source of many a Nobel Prize, I expect...! Things that I like: decent beer (ie Ale, rather than cheap alcohol fizz with no taste), good wine (same reasons, I suspect & possibly a hint of snobbery), diving (but I've never dived in the sea, desipte several months of pool training), working out the plots of movies before they happen & being with friends. I also happen to really like North America (both the US & Canada), but I conclude that, as I've never lived there its hard to have an objective opinion of a place. In conclusion: I'm a British level 3 Accountant/Chemist. I'd like think that I'm a decent husband too – but thats not for me to judge. Some day I might even loose enough weight for them to accept me as an astronaut – but I'm not going to hold my breath on this...! | |||||
